Apollo 13 (1995)

I'd like to think at some point in every young boy's life, they become interested in space travel, landing on the moon, living in space and even going to Mars.

For me, that interest started on a very specific date. My Dad's 40th birthday, Wednesday October 25th 1995. He took us all to the cinema to see Apollo 13 and at the age of 12, I wasn't particularly aware of NASA beyond the vague idea that they landed on the moon a long time ago.

At such a young age and with little interest in space travel, I didn't know anything about the fateful Apollo 13 mission before going into this movie. It helped too.

Cars 2 (2011)

Cars is a bit like the poor cousin of the Pixar world. It doesn't get the same love as Toy Story or Finding Nemo and I can understand why. The characters just don't seem to be as memorable or as iconic as Buzz Lightyear or Woody.

While the first movie did have it's moments, I wasn't expecting much from the sequel. I was actually dreading seeing it as I was told it was a Mater centric outing... And I didn't like Mater one bit in Cars (1).

I was in for a pleasant surprise...

In my opinion, Cars 2 doesn't feel like a sequel to Cars. It comes across far more like a spy movie in the world of talking automobiles.
